Expect no priority embarkation/debarkation, no early stateroom access for luggage drop-off, no priority luggage delivery, and no priority Guest Services line before or during the sailing. Plan your boarding day and luggage handling accordingly, since staterooms won't be ready before 1:30 PM.
Carnival built Rewards to fix a VIFP program so loaded with elite members that, in Christine Duffy's words, it was "much more difficult to make everyone feel special." Yet less than a week after launch, two sailings — Carnival Sunshine's Canada run out of Norfolk and Carnival Vista's Southern Caribbean run out of Port Canaveral — are seeing Platinum perks like priority boarding and stateroom access pulled for the exact same reason. My read is this exposes how structural the over-crowding problem is: priority boarding and stateroom access are still baked into the new program, and Carnival won't disclose per-sailing status counts, so guests have no way to gauge risk in advance. Since VIFP status carries through December 2028, I'd expect these cancellations to keep popping up on popular itineraries until then. If you're loyalty-status-dependent, book early and don't count on perks holding on high-demand sailings.
