Carnival Fleet's 2026 Holiday Decor Starts November 22 on Carnival Encounter

Carnival brand ambassador John Heald posted the 2026 holiday decorating schedule for every ship in the fleet to his more than 688,000 Facebook followers. Each date is the first departure that will feature decorations. Carnival Encounter goes first, on her Sunday, November 22 departure from Brisbane, a 6-night sailing to Airlie Beach, Cairns, and Willis Island. Carnival Luminosa is last, on her Monday, December 14, 2026 Brisbane departure, a 4-night Airlie Beach sailing and her first from Australia after a Singapore dry dock from October 23 to late November. Heald said a separate team boards at each ship's homeport to decorate, not the crew. The decorations stay up through New Year's Eve cruises, and some may come down on or after January 1.
💡 What This Means For You

If you sail Carnival between the posted decorating date for your ship and December 31, you should see the seasonal touches. Look up your ship's first decorated departure in Heald's full fleet schedule and compare it to your embarkation date. If you are on Carnival Encounter, you need to depart November 22 or later. On Carnival Luminosa, you need December 14 or later. Sailing on or after January 1, expect some decorations to start coming down.

📝 Mark's Take

My read is that this is low-stakes scheduling with one practical takeaway: the date on the list matters more than the month. A guest on Carnival Luminosa expecting tinsel will not find it until the December 14 Brisbane departure, since she is the last ship decorated and is just back from her Singapore dry dock. Carnival Encounter wins the early slot with her November 22 sailing out of Brisbane. Heald's confirmation that decorations stay up through New Year's Eve cruises answers a question guests were evidently asking, and it makes late-December sailings the safest bet. I would check my ship's date before booking, and I would not count on full decor after January 1, since crew may start packing it away. The one dry irony is that the elevator Mariah Carey loop starts the moment the decorations go up, so the first sailing of the season gets it too.
