Marella Launches Winter 2027 Itineraries, Discovery 2 Going Adults-Only

Marella Cruises has opened its winter 2027 program for booking from July 2, 2026, with all five fleet ships homeporting across six European and Caribbean ports. New itineraries, festive overnight stays, repositioning cruises and transatlantic sailings are included. Marella Discovery 2, which marked 30 years of operation last year, will return as an adults-only ship for a second consecutive winter, adding four new concepts — a speakeasy, escape room, karaoke room and arts & crafts area — in place of former kids' spaces. It will homeport from Tenerife and Gran Canaria (November 2027–March 2028) and then Malaga (March–April 2028). A new seven-night "Atlantic Fusion" itinerary will call at Agadir, Morocco. CEO Chris Hackney said the program focuses on Discovery 2's regeneration amid growing demand for adults-only cruising.
💡 What This Means For You

If you're eyeing Marella Discovery 2's adults-only sailings, note it homeports from Tenerife and Gran Canaria from November 2027 to March 2028, then shifts to Malaga through April 2028. Check out the new seven-night "Atlantic Fusion" itinerary calling at Agadir, Morocco, or the "Voyage to the Tropics" transatlantic sailing from Malaga to the Caribbean. 📝 Mark's Take

Marella's bet here is straightforward: adults-only cruising is growing, so they're doubling down on Discovery 2 rather than spreading that investment across the fleet. Turning kids' spaces into a speakeasy, escape room, karaoke room and arts & crafts area is a low-capex way to reposition a 30-year-old ship instead of retiring it — smart use of an aging asset. The winners are child-free travelers wanting Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Malaga homeports without family chaos aboard; families lose one more ship from the kid-friendly rotation. The new Agadir call on the "Atlantic Fusion" itinerary and the Malaga-to-Caribbean "Voyage to the Tropics" transatlantic suggest Marella is also chasing longer, higher-yield sailings. My read: this is fleet segmentation, not fleet expansion. If I were booking, I'd lock in Discovery 2's Tenerife season early — adults-only capacity on a single ship will sell out faster than a five-ship spread.
