Royal Caribbean Puts Four Icon Class Ships in Its Summer 2028 Lineup of 11

Royal Caribbean has unveiled its summer 2028 deployment of 11 ships sailing to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda and more, and bookings opened November 5 for Crown & Anchor Society members, with general bookings later that afternoon. Four Icon Class ships sail between April and October 2028: Hero of the Seas from Miami, Legend of the Seas from Fort Lauderdale, Star of the Seas from Port Canaveral, and Icon of the Seas from Galveston. Seven other ships round out the lineup, including Symphony of the Seas from Miami, Harmony of the Seas from Port Canaveral, Brilliance of the Seas from Tampa, Enchantment of the Seas from San Juan, Vision of the Seas from Baltimore, and Oasis and Independence of the Seas from Cape Liberty. Details of Symphony's Royal Amplified upgrades are still to come.
💡 What This Means For You

If you want an Icon Class sailing, check the homeports: Hero of the Seas from Miami, Legend of the Seas from Fort Lauderdale, Star of the Seas from Port Canaveral, or Icon of the Seas from Galveston. Bookings opened November 5 and are open to everyone now, so compare itinerary lengths (six-, seven- or eight-night) against your preferred ports. If Symphony of the Seas from Miami appeals, know that its new Royal Amplified experiences have no announced details or date yet.

📝 Mark's Take

My read is that Royal Caribbean is spreading its biggest hardware across every major U.S. gateway. Three Icon ships sail from Florida and Icon of the Seas goes to Galveston after its 2027 homeport move, which looks like a bet on Texas demand. Florida passengers win the most choice, with Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral and Tampa all in the mix, plus Cape Liberty and Baltimore for the Northeast. The slightly awkward part is Symphony of the Seas: the line confirmed new experiences are coming under Royal Amplified but gave no details or date, so buyers are committing before they know what they get. Harmony of the Seas already finished its five-week Royal Amplified refurbishment in May 2026, so there is at least a template. In your shoes, I would book an Icon sailing if the ports suit you, and I would wait on Symphony until the upgrade details land.
